Photography Challenge Week April 2025 | Portrait and Street Photography
Last week my wife went to a work conference, in Texas, for a big certification, leaving me home for a week with nothing to do. So, I decided to challenge myself to completing a new photography project each day. It definitely wasn’t easy, especially since it was a last minute idea, but I took my camera out Monday through Friday and created some exceptional photos every day. It was an absolute blast to spend the week making photos, just for fun, and I’m happy to share some of my favorite shots of the week.
Monday | Street Photography at Hampton Beach
On day one, I brought Ripley along to walk up and down the beach, searching for interesting photos. We spent about an hour there and I feel like it was a great warm-up for my upcoming week. It was surreal being there with most of the shops boarded up and just a few people walking along the beach. I wanted to bring Ripley on the beach for a few photos, but there were signs with conflicting information about when dogs are allowed on the beach, and I didn’t want to deal with the hassle.
Tuesday | Manchester Street Photography
Day two, in my opinion, was my weakest day. I wandered around downtown Manchester, but I was having time finding the compositions I was looking for and felt rather uninspired. Even though I wasn’t happy with the overall outcome from day two, it was about getting out and taking photos, and I did that!
Wednesday | Portraits of Claudia and Maple at Livingston Park in Manchester, NH
On day three I met up with Claudia, and her gorgeous dog Maple, at Livingston Park, my local go-to spot for photos. We had so much fun wandering through the trails and creating stunning photos during golden hour. Maple was a little nervous, mostly because the park was so crowded on such a beautiful day, but she’s so sweet and was a perfect model.
Thursday | Portraits of Katie at Benson Park in Hudson, NH
On the fourth day I got to explore Benson Park in Hudson, NH for Katie’s portrait session. She recommended Benson Park and I fell in love with the park as soon as I looked it up! We walked through the park, taking photos all along the way, and I feel like we barely scratched the surface before the sunset. I cannot wait to return for another portrait or engagement session.
Friday | Boston Street Photography
The final day was the only one I actually planned for, before setting this challenge for myself. Once I started the challenge, though, I knew I wanted to save my trip into Boston for Friday. It was the perfect spring afternoon in the city. The trees and flowers were all starting to bloom and everyone seemed to be in a great mood. I’m so happy with the photos I captured and I’m planning to return as often as I can this year.
Possibly my favorite photo of the week.
It was a lot of fun completing this challenge and I am definitely going to attempt this again over the summer!
