Not every wedding day goes exactly as planned — and Mikayla and Stephen's autumn wedding at Castleton in Windham, NH is proof that wedding days don't always need to. When the rain moved their ceremony indoors, Castleton proved exactly why it's one of my favorite venues in southern New Hampshire — it handled the change beautifully without missing a beat. I knew from the moment I met Mikayla and Stephen for their engagement session that their wedding day was going to be something special. They were natural in front of the camera from the start — warm, passionate, and completely in love with each other. Their fall wedding at Castleton remains one of my favorites of 2024, rain and all.
The beautiful bride took a short break from getting ready to check in on the Patriot’s game. They lost, but that hardly made a difference to Mikayla and Stephen’s day.

The bride and groom chose to wait until the aisle for their first-look, however, they did do first-looks with the rest of the wedding party. First Mikayla had a first-look with the groomsmen, accompanied by her son, who stole the show. Then she had an intimate first-look with her uncle, before walking her down the aisle. There may have been a few tears, but her make-up stayed strong!
Once the bride was hidden away, it was time for the groom and his son’s first-look with the bridesmaids, followed by an heartfelt first-look with his mother. There are plenty alternatives to a first-look, that’ll still produce terrific photos, if you don’t want to break traditions on your wedding day.
Although the ceremony needed to be held indoors, due to the rain, it was nothing short of stunning.
